Welcome to the Dallas County Schools, Communications Department

The Dallas County Board of Education Communications Department is responsible for system wide internal and external communications.   In addition to the communication functions of this office, we are also responsible for the "News" portion of the Dallas County Board of Education website, conducting a Journalism Class at Southside High School, Keith High School and Tipton Middle School and the video productions and web casting, features that will soon be available on www.dallask12.org

Because the media, parents and other community members do not always separate the Communications Department from individual school sites, they often assume we have information about each school’s activities. Therefore, it is important that schools provide the Communications Department with news about school events and activities.

The following guide offers tips on how to work with the Communications Department and the media to promote your school. Please call the office at (334) 876-4460 or contact me via cell phone if you have any questions or concerns.
 

                              For Administrators and Teachers:

• A crisis or serious student incident occurs at your school site. Notify Communications even when the police or fire department are not involved.
• Media arrive at your school site unexpectedly. The office can provide guidance and advise the site staff about how to handle this type of situation.
• You have invited the media to attend a school event.
• You have an exciting school event or activity that should be included on the website.
• You have any media-related questions.
